Majority Leader Michael McQuillen
Michael J. McQuillen was elected to represent the citizens of City-County Council District 12 in 2007. He laid out three basic goals during the campaign:
- Protecting Taxpayers against excessive government spending,
- Demanding Integrity and an Open Door Policy in City Government, and
- Being Responsive to ALL residents of Lawrence Township and Marion County.
As Chairman of the Municipal Corporations Committee and Chairman of the CIB Task Force, McQuillen uses his experiences as a past elected member and President of the Board of Finance of the Lawrence Township Board to meet those goals. He also serves on the Economic Development and Parks Department Committees.
A life-long resident of Indianapolis, McQuillen graduated from Perry Meridian High School in 1983 and earned a B.A. in Political Science, with a Minor in Communications, from the University of Indianapolis, graduating in 1987. Public Service has long been a priority for McQuillen and he has served on numerous public and private boards including the Public Housing Advisory Council, Marion County Sheriff’s Citizen Advisory Board, Precinct Committeeman, Ward Chairman, Assistant Township Chairman, Lawrence Township School Committee, Citizen’s School Organization, and many others.
McQuillen and his wife own and operate their own small business, PoliticalParade.com, and live in Lawrence Township.
